We have some exciting news around Makeworth Coffee-- we are now roasting on a Loring S15.
If you've been around the specialty coffee world, it's likely you've seen, or tasted, a Loring's impact. In the pursuit of becoming the very best version of ourselves as a hospitality and quality focused roasting company, we are excited for where this upgrade can take us.
for the coffee nerds out there, there are some pretty significant perks we are looking forward to:
1. Convection as the main source of heat transfer.
Loring equipment does not operate on a direct open flame system like traditional equipment, but instead relies on an indirect heat source that injects air throughout the bean mass. In a simple sense, this roaster maximally relies on convection as the main mode of the roasting process. There are pros and cons to the varying styles of equipment, but one thing is sure: convective roasting strongly impacts the clarity of how a coffee tastes. As a roasting company looking to highlight the uniqueness of each coffee we offer, it's crucial to have the easiest path possible to present the coffees we sharer
2. High tech
Loring equipment gives the roaster-operator a huge advantage of extra control and data during the roasting process. Excellent coffee roasters know the significant impact of a few seconds of time and a few degrees of temperature. The interface on the roaster allows for undeniable precision and accuracy during roast process. This ensures coffees taste great every single batch
3. Efficient and eco-forward
There is something extra sweet about not only increasing the quality of our product, but also decreasing our environmental footprint. The Loring equipment uses less natural gas, operates with highly effective afterburner to reduce emissions, and has top of the line ergonomic features to reduce labor pain for the operator. We estimate we will reduce our C02 impact by several thousand pounds in our first year of use.
We are excited to share this upgrade with our community, near and far. Thank you for your support over the years as we continue to grow- all with the intention to serve you the best of our abiilty.
Gratitude and good coffee to you!
