A new relationship as of July of 2024, and excited to start things in this way! The Makeworth team met Hacea at an invited cupping in Seattle and quickly could tell that there was something really special about their process. Their QC team is dialed, they know their coffees well and have upped the standard for helpinng roasters get a hold of quality coffees. We were immediately impressed by their presentation and began selecting a few coffees to bring in for the 2024 harvest

Owners Jared and Luke Hales are no stranger to the coffee world, either. Both are certifieed Q graders who also bring so much attention to detail regardless of how big or small your roasting operation is. We are proud to start and grow this relationship and know you will really dig the coffees we are bringing in from them.

Santuario History began 22 years ago, when Camilo Merizalde had the desire of creating a very unique farm, capable of producing the best specialty coffees of Colombia. During the first 11 years, the Santuario Farm has produced amazing Colombian coffees for the international specialty market. In 2012, The Santuario Project went international with the creation of the Tres Milagros Farm in Costa Rica, and Santuario Sul in Brazil. By 2017 Santuario Project  was established in Mexico with the creation of the Ixhuatlan Center in Veracruz (Ixhuatlan del Cafe), and the partnership with Guadalupe Zaju Farm in Chiapas. In 2020 Camilo and his team began a joint venture with Gesha Village in Ethiopia to process coffees using techniques learned in the Santuario network. Recently, Camilo began a new partnership in El Salvador to produce top quality coffees with the Borgonovo Family, who have more than 60 years of coffee growing experience in El Salvador. A new facility was re-fitted in order to have a total quality control of the Santuario Borgonovo Specialty coffees. Today Santuario has 6 origins with numerous varieties and processes.
