Their focus goes beyond simply sourcing coffee. They work directly with producers to develop sustainable systems, improve quality, and ensure every coffee tells the story of the people and places behind it. Through detailed traceability, shared learning, and long-term partnerships, Crop to Cup helps us connect with coffees that reflect both excellence and integrity.
We’re proud to work alongside a company whose mission aligns so closely with our own; celebrating the human relationships that make every cup meaningful.
The Producer:
Bekele Yutute
Bekele Yutute is a distinguished producer from Bensa in Ethiopia’s Sidamo region, known for his mastery of dry processing and his dedication to quality and innovation. Born into a family of coffee growers in Dembe, Bekele has become one of Ethiopia’s most respected independent exporters. After years of selling coffee cherries locally, he purchased the Kokose site in 2019, where his family now manages both the farm and drying operations.
Bekele’s precision in crafting traditional naturals and anaerobic coffees has earned him national recognition. In 2021, his Kokose lot placed fifth in the prestigious Cup of Excellence, and he has continued to set the standard for clean, expressive profiles year after year. His commitment to the 74158 variety, known for its balanced sweetness and clarity, reflects his pursuit of excellence and his deep connection to Bensa’s coffee heritage.
Today, Bekele stands at the forefront of Ethiopia’s new generation of smallholder exporters, bridging the gap between local tradition and global specialty markets. His coffees capture the soul of Sidamo: vibrant, fruit-forward, and meticulously produced for roasters and coffee lovers around the world.
