We've loved partnering with Crop to Cup Coffee Importers as a team deeply rooted in building transparent, lasting relationships between farmers and roasters. Founded in 2007 and based in Brooklyn, New York, Crop to Cup has grown from a small group of origin-minded coffee professionals into a trusted bridge between producers and specialty roasters across the world.

Their focus goes beyond simply sourcing coffee. They work directly with producers to develop sustainable systems, improve quality, and ensure every coffee tells the story of the people and places behind it. Through detailed traceability, shared learning, and long-term partnerships, Crop to Cup helps us connect with coffees that reflect both excellence and integrity.

We’re proud to work alongside a company whose mission aligns so closely with our own; celebrating the human relationships that make every cup meaningful.

The Producer:

Red de Mirimar, Leonides Castro García

This microlot comes from Leonides Castro García, a smallholder coffee producer farming in the high hills of the Mixteca region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Leonides cultivates coffee on a modest family plot near Miramar de Yucuhiti at roughly 1,540 meters above sea level, where steep terrain, cool nights, and long growing cycles contribute to dense, expressive coffees.

Leonides is part of Red de Mirimar, an informal network of neighboring families who work together to improve quality and access to specialty markets. Rather than operating as a formal cooperative, the group functions as a close working community, sharing knowledge, processing support, and logistical resources in a region that has historically relied on intermediaries to move coffee to market.

Coffee farming here is deeply tied to indigenous Mixteca agricultural traditions. Leonides grows classic varietals including Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica, tending his trees with careful attention throughout the season. Harvesting and processing are done with precision, with washed processing highlighting clarity, sweetness, and balance in the cup.

Through outreach efforts like the Good Coffee Program in Oaxaca, Leonides and other Red de Mirimar producers have gained more direct access to specialty buyers and greater transparency around quality and value. These partnerships support long term sustainability for farming families in the region and help preserve smallholder coffee production in one of Mexico’s most historically rich growing areas.
